Route 66 Rock Creek Bridge

13798 W Ozark Trail

About this location

Built in 1921, Bridge #18 at Rock Creek predates Route 66 itself, but it quickly became a landmark as the route was established. Almost a century later it is upheld by the Sapulpa community as an icon of the town and a prized piece of original Route 66 history. Rock Creek Bridge is still in use for vehicle traffic, but plans call for the bridge to be closed and bypassed to traffic so that it can be preserved in a park setting. Many individuals and organizations have stepped up to help preserve and protect the bridge throughout its history. The Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program donated funds to restore the bridge in 2015, and Bennett Steel of Sapulpa performed some structural work to shore up the bridge until it can be retired to vehicle traffic.
